# Project Transfer

> Project owners can transfer ownership to a teammate or friend after confirmation.

## What It Is

Project transfer lets a project owner transfer a project to a teammate or friend. After the recipient confirms, they become the new owner, and the original owner becomes a view-only collaborator.

This is an invitation-based flow. The recipient has 30 days to accept. Before acceptance, the original owner remains the owner and can withdraw the transfer at any time.

***

## When to Use It

* **Handoff**: transfer a project to a colleague when ownership changes.
* **Team collaboration**: hand a personal project to another team member for ongoing maintenance.
* **Collaboration upgrade**: let an active collaborator officially take over.

***

## Start a Transfer

### Option A: Transfer by Email or Phone

1. Find the project in your workspace.
2. Click the **...** menu on the project card and choose **Adjust**.
3. Click **Transfer project** at the bottom of the dialog.
4. Enter the recipient's email or phone number.
5. Click **Start transfer**.
6. Read the confirmation notes and click **Confirm transfer**.

You can also open the project, click the project name in the top-left corner, and find the transfer entry from project information.

### Option B: Transfer to an Existing Collaborator

1. Click **Invite / Share** on the project page.
2. Find the collaborator in the member list.
3. Open the role dropdown beside that member.
4. Choose **Transfer project to this person**.
5. Confirm the transfer.

This option only works for collaborators who have already joined the project.

## Accept a Transfer

The recipient receives an in-app message, email, or SMS. Opening the notice brings them to the transfer acceptance page.

The page shows the project in read-only mode so the recipient can review conversations, preview, and attachments. A confirmation card appears at the bottom with:

* Sender information
* What happens after accepting
* **Ignore** and **Confirm acceptance** buttons

After clicking **Confirm acceptance**, the recipient becomes the new owner immediately and is taken to the project home page.

If they do not want to accept yet, they can click **Ignore** or do nothing. The invitation expires after 30 days.

## Before You Transfer

Please note:

1. After transfer, the original owner becomes a view-only collaborator.
2. The recipient can accept within 30 days.
3. Acceptance takes effect immediately and cannot be undone.
4. Historical bills remain unchanged. Future usage is charged to the new owner.
5. After the transfer is complete, the new owner can continue copying the project.

## Withdraw and Check Status

To withdraw a pending transfer, open **Adjust → Transfer project** again.

The panel shows the recipient, expiration time, and a **Withdraw** button. After withdrawing, you can start a new transfer.
